Project Details

Hawthorne Civil supported the delivery of the Bruce Highway Upgrade – Maroochydore Road and Mons Road Interchanges by providing specialist FRP works for key bridge and structural elements on this major transport infrastructure project.

The upgrade, jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments, delivered significant improvements to the Maroochydore Road and Mons Road interchanges on the Bruce Highway near Forest Glen on the Sunshine Coast. Works included the construction of a new four‑lane eastbound bridge over the Bruce Highway from Nambour Connection Road to Maroochydore Road, the conversion of the existing roundabout to a signalised interchange, extension and widening of interchange on/off‑ramps, and new two‑way service roads connecting the interchanges. Active transport facilities for pedestrians and cyclists were also incorporated to enhance connectivity.

Hawthorne Civil’s engagement involved delivering form, reinforcement and pour support on the project’s bridge structures, working within a complex highway upgrade environment that required careful coordination with stakeholders, traffic management and program delivery. The works helped contribute to improved safety, capacity and traffic flow at a critical section of Queensland’s major freight and commuter route.
