Project Details

Hawthorne Civil provided specialist form, reinforcement and pour (FRP) support for bridge works on the Bruce Highway – Cairns Southern Access Corridor Stage 3: Edmonton to Gordonvale project, delivered by the John Holland – Seymour Whyte – AECOM Joint Venture on behalf of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads.

The Edmonton to Gordonvale upgrade is a major infrastructure initiative in Far North Queensland, involving the duplication of 10.5 kilometres of the Bruce Highway from two to four lanes, the construction of new and upgraded intersections, service roads, local road connections and active transport facilities, as well as multiple road and rail bridges.

Hawthorne Civil’s FRP scope supported the construction of key bridge structures within this extensive corridor upgrade, working alongside the principal contractor to deliver concrete structural components safely, efficiently and to program. Our team’s contribution underpinned the delivery of improved transport efficiency, traffic flow and safety outcomes for the region.

The successful completion of these works on one of Far North Queensland’s largest transport projects highlights Hawthorne Civil’s capability in delivering high-quality bridge infrastructure within large, complex road and rail environments.
