Funded by the NSW and Federal Governments, the upgraded bridge forms a critical component of the Wagga Wagga High Productivity Freight Route. The project improved access to the Bomen Industrial Park and strengthened connections to the Olympic Highway, supporting increased freight efficiency and regional growth.
Working closely with BMD Constructions, Hawthorne Civil was engaged in the construction of the new five-span superstructure over the Murrumbidgee River. A staged construction methodology was adopted to maintain the stability of the existing bridge substructure while the new superstructure was progressively delivered.
Hawthorne Civil was responsible for the supply and installation of all access systems, formwork and reinforcement, including post-installed reinforcement, along with concrete placement and the installation of precast deck units. This scope included grouting and stressing works, as well as assistance with the demolition of the existing bridge.
The project was delivered by Hawthorne Civil’s specialist bridge crews, ensuring high-quality workmanship, safe execution and adherence to program requirements throughout the works.
