Project Details

As part of the Cross River Rail program, this project involved the form, reinforcement, and pour construction of the new Hope Island Station, including both platform and station structures. Works included detailed excavation and construction of piers, ground beams, slabs-on-ground, pier columns, headstocks, SuperT girder erection, deck slabs, platform slabs, and retaining walls.

Two six-span bridge structures were constructed adjacent to a live rail corridor, requiring precise coordination with scheduled rail shutdowns for major activities such as girder installation, deck pours, and prefabricated platform placement. Complex staging and sequencing were essential to meet strict access windows and safety requirements.

Challenging site access and close proximity to concurrent major infrastructure projects—including road and rail interfaces—required integrated planning across multiple stakeholders. Cast in-situ piled foundations supported the structures, with large expansion joints, intricate steel drainage systems, and services ducting incorporated into the station platform. Additional works included the erection of platform canopies and anti-throw screens.

Environmental management was a key component due to the site’s proximity to waterways, requiring continuous monitoring and mitigation measures.

This project typifies B3 category bridge works, involving complex geometry, high-risk interfaces with live transport corridors, and extensive environmental and logistical coordination.
