Project Details

Funded by both the Federal and NSW Governments, the Bridge over Shark Creek at Tyndale forms part of the $4.6 billion Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway Upgrade, one of Australia’s largest regional infrastructure projects at the time.

BMD Constructions was engaged to deliver the 870-metre bridge, comprising 26 spans, piling works, access roads, and the supply of precast concrete elements.

Our experienced FRP crews delivered a broad scope of works, including:

  • Formwork for cross-girders

  • Preparation works for deck pours

  • Placement and grouting of bearing pads

  • Installation of Granor Expansion Joints

  • Stitch pours

  • Slab relieving works

  • Installation of parapets and guardrails

The scope also included cross-girder, deck and barrier construction, as well as the installation of precast girders. Works were completed in close coordination with the principal contractor to ensure program efficiency, quality outcomes, and minimal disruption to surrounding works.

The project was delivered with a strong focus on safety, environmental management, and quality assurance, achieving zero MTIs and LTIs. Upon completion, the bridge contributes to reduced travel times, improved road safety, and increased freight and transport efficiency along the Pacific Highway corridor.
